Some, though not all, music specifically composed for Lent is dark. That is partially true for Kind Maker of the World. From its quiet, Gregorian chant-like beginning to its triumphal praise ending, it is a journey from darkness toward the light of Christ. The optional viola part is included in the score. While it is not simplistic, it is well within the grasp of the average high school or college age player. With Kind Maker of the World, Sheldon Curry has created a meaningful musical expression for Lent and Holy Week.
