Author: McBrien, Brendan

The dictionary definition of a contraption describes a machine or device that is strange, incomprehensible, or makeshift. The work musically depicts a large machine -- a contraption -- coming to life. The use of percussion is required to achieve the mechanical effect but they can be performed by non-percussionists -- the addition of winds enhances the effort. (3:36)

Recorded at Omega Studios, Rockville, Maryland
by the Washington Winds and the Washington Pops,
Edward Petersen, Conductor
