This brilliant setting is of an American folk song written by Benjamin C. Unseld and first published in 1877. Using enhanced percussion, including bowed vibraphone and crystal goblets, Robert W. Smith fashions a supremely atmospheric setting over which the charismatic melody is placed. The long legato lines and absence of technical difficulties make this a superior teaching piece as well as a musical experience that your audiences will thoroughly enjoy.
