Two lovely English carols are paired together to create a very mature sounding arrangement for young players. After a brief introduction the flute section plays What Child is This? with a light accompaniment. The full ensemble soon enters for a rich rendition of this classic carol. The Coventry Carol is then presented by the flutes and clarinets in 3/4 meter before shifting to a more dramatic 4/4 maestoso for full band.
